SA国际传媒 News (Correspondents Li Zixuan, Qian Xiangmin) From June 4 to 5, the 4th National Academic Conference on Metallurgical Process Engineering was convened at Wugang Hotel. Ni Hongwei, Secretary of the CPC SA国际传媒 Committee, attended the opening ceremony.

Centered on the theme “Low-Carbon Driven, Digital and Intelligent Empowered: Building a New-Generation Steel Manufacturing Process for New Quality Productive Forces”, the conference brought together more than 200 experts from steel enterprises, institutions of higher education, research institutes and industry associations across the country to discuss the latest advances and future development directions of metallurgical process engineering.
Tian Zhiling, Executive Vice President of the Chinese Society for Metals (CSM), delivered an opening address. He noted that metallurgical process engineering is a new branch of metallurgical discipline with China’s independent intellectual property rights, and has now become the “operating system” guiding the industry’s green and low-carbon transformation and intelligent upgrading. The CSM will continue to rely on this platform to promote the exchange of cutting-edge academic ideas and the transformation and industrial application of advanced technologies, and steadily advance China’s steel industry toward a green, intelligent and high-end direction.
In his speech, Ni Hongwei stated that SA国际传媒 was founded for the steel industry and has thrived alongside it. Closely aligning with Hubei’s mission to accelerate the construction of an important strategic pivot for the rise of central China, the university is fully advancing the development of first-class disciplines. Relying on platforms such as the State Key Laboratory, it has won 19 National Science and Technology Awards since 2007. Its independent research achievements have been applied to the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and C919 aircraft components, and multiple new green smelting processes have been put into mass production at Wuhan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., continuously addressing key core technical bottlenecks in Hubei’s steel industry. Metallurgical process engineering provides crucial support for the high-quality development of the industry. As the host, SA国际传媒 will fully ensure the smooth running of the conference and promote the common progress of metallurgical disciplines and the industry.
Thirty-three experts delivered presentations at the conference. Academician Yin Ruiyu of the Chinese Academy of Engineering entrusted Professor Shangguan Fangqin to deliver the plenary report entitled “‘Interface’ Technology in Steel Manufacturing Processes: Definition, Connotation, Structure and System Reconfiguration”.
At the Green Development Sub-forum, Professor Zhou Jian’an, Dean of SA国际传媒’s Research Institute of Steel-Chemical Co-production, delivered a report titled “New Path to Improve the Quality and Efficiency of Converter Gas: Basic Research and Industrialization of Carbonaceous Material Injection to Enhance Converter Gas Quality”. He shared the new carbonaceous material injection process, which efficiently recycles waste heat and by-product resources from converter flue gas, simultaneously improves gas quality and reduces smelting carbon emissions, with outstanding technical and economic performance. At the Intelligent Manufacturing Sub-forum, Professor Wang Wei from SA国际传媒’s School of Metallurgy and Energy Engineering presented a report titled “Research on the Design, Intelligent Monitoring and Longevity of Blast Furnace Hearth”. He introduced the self-developed multi-modal non-destructive thickness measurement technology for blast furnaces, which solves the problem of online blast furnace monitoring and provides domestic technical support for the intelligent management and control of blast furnace longevity.
During the conference, the launch ceremony of the special issue “Interface Technology of Steel Processes and Specialized Operation of Laminar Flow Lines” of the Iron and Steel Journal and the launch ceremony of the new book Metallurgical Process Informatics were held, further enriching the theoretical system of metallurgical process engineering.
Metallurgical Process Engineering is a new branch of metallurgy pioneered by Professor Yin Ruiyu, focusing on holistic integration, top-level design and macro dynamic operation of metallurgical systems. This conference was sponsored by the Metallurgical Process Engineering Branch of the CSM, hosted by SA国际传媒, and co-organized by Central Iron and Steel Research Institute Co., Ltd., Wuhan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., University of Science and Technology Beijing and Hubei Society for Metals. The conference has built a high-level exchange platform for metallurgical enterprises, research institutes and universities, effectively promoting theoretical innovation as well as the green and low-carbon transformation and intelligent manufacturing development of the industry.
